Always here to help
WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
Consecrated in 1923, Alfred & Guthrum Lodge purchased Wedmore Masonic Hall in 1930 for the princely sum of £700. Now with 68 members the Lodge is one of the largest meeting in Somerset.
We are a group of men from all walks of life in, and around Wedmore.
We are Bank Managers, Architects, School Teachers, Shop Keepers, Lorry Drivers, Farmers and almost any other profession that you can think of.
Our aim is to make ourselves better men and to raise money for deserving causes locally, nationally and when the need arises internationally.
We meet 8 times a year to hold ceremonies, lectures etc. We always have a meal after the meeting and the bar is always open!
WHAT IS FREEMASONRY
Freemasonry is the one of the world’s oldest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations.
Our values are based on integrity, kindness, honesty and fairness.
There are over 250,000 Freemasons meeting in more than 8,000 Masonic lodges throughout England and Wales. In Somerset there are 88 Lodges meeting at 27 venues around the county.
FUNDRAISING EVENTS
From barbecues to quizzes and film nights and our Ladies Festivals, every event held is raising money to help the wider community in the area. All of these events are open to Masons and Non-Masons alike. Check out our events page for our next one.
Freemasons are taught to practice charity, and to care, not only for their own, but also for the community as a whole, both by charitable giving, and by voluntary efforts and works as individuals.
